Eye care plays a very vital role within the medical field. With the emergence of modern technology ushering a new age of innovative technological methods, it has opened up streams of career opportunities in the various areas of the industry. The Department of Paramedical and Health Sciences offers a 4 year Bachelors Degree program in Optometry with Honours which seeks to produce highly trained opticians who actively contribute to the industry and seek to provide the highest form of patient care. Optometry makes use of medical scientific methods and machinery for the diagnosis and treatment of eyes and involves specialised skill sets in developing lenses and eyewear. The faculty offers a comprehensive curriculum which seeks to develop the practical understanding of the students through various hands on training programs. For this purpose, the faculty is equipped with state of the art facilities and laboratories which provides students the finest exposure to the various forms of optometry research. The students are guided under the expertise of doctors who have vast experiences in the field, thus go on to provide the students with the effective training in regards to optometry. The Faculty is also equipped with a 750 bedded multi-specialty hospital which endeavours to provide the finest medical care to patients, thus providing for the students a ground for practical training.
