Dr. Ketan Kotecha
Dr Ketan Kotecha is a passionate educationalist and believes in becoming the catalyst to bring the change we want to see. Founding Provost (Vice Chancellor) of the University, he has Doctorate from IIT Bombay- one of the most prestigious of all IITs. Dr Kotecha has rare ability of achieving the balance between the academics, administration and research. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Computer Algorithms & Machine Learning, and Higher Order Thinking skills, Critical Thinking and Ethics and Value. He has more than 100 papers published /presented in international conferences around the world, to his credit and 3 patents filed. He has guided no. of students on diverse field of Computer Engineering and especially in Machine Learning for PhD/MTech Degrees.
Dr Kotecha was Director – Academic Development and Research Cell, Nirma University, Ahmedabad and also Dean and Director, Institute of Technology, Nirma University. Dr.Kotecha was Governing Council Member of the USA based Global Engineering Dean’s Council – India Chapter and is also a member of national Advisory Council for Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) Engineering and Management Curriculum Restructuring Task Force, Member of Governing Council of various Universities and member of Academic Council at few Universities. He had also worked as a Member in the Technical Advisory Committee of BRTS, Ahmedabad and is also member of Metro–Link Express For Gandhinagar. Dr Kotecha is also an independent director of Gujarat Informatics nominated by Government of Gujarat. He is also recipient of Erasmus + faculty mobility grant from European Union. He has been invited by university of Pretoria, S. Africa and also by Poznan university of technology, Poland for delivering talk on Machine learning.
A voracious reader, he loves travelling and is also invited and visited in various countries like USA, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong,S. Africa, Poland, Germany, Cz Republic, Switzerland and Argentina. Dr Kotecha is pioneer in Education Technology, and has bought drastic curriculum reforms and innovative teaching-learning practices to the university.
