About Department

The Civil Engineering Department of Parul Institute of Engineering & Technology was established in the year 2004 with an intake of 30 in BE Civil Engineering. The intake of UG course increased to 120 in the year 2009 and subsequently to 180 in the year 2011. The department is accredited by NBA (National Board of Accreditation). The Department has recently filed three patents and two copyrights in the year 2013. The PG programmes in Structural Engineering and Transportation Engineering were started with intake of 18 seats in each program from the year 2010.

The department is staffed with highly qualified and motivated faculties with various specializations coming from various reputed institutes and National Institutes like IIT’s, NIT’s, IISC’s etc. They continue to strive for loftier goals by exploring new frontiers of knowledge for imparting the latest technical knowledge to the students. Faculties in the department have presented and published more than 350 research papers in National and International journals, conferences, workshops and seminars.

The profession of Civil Engineering has ample scope in a wide variety of engineering tasks involving planning, design and execution, maintenance & operation of the infrastructural facilities viz buildings, dams, bridges, canals, tunnels, highways, airports, harbours, etc. Our specially developed curricular focus on various specializations of Civil Engineering, viz Structural, Transportation Systems, Geotechnical, Water Resources and Fluid mechanics, Environmental Concrete Technology, Surveying, Engineering Mechanics & Strength of Material,. Multiple choices in Electives provide the students opportunity to pursue their interests. We concentrate on quantitative analytical approaches and development and the use of appropriate tools and technology. Emphasis is laid on innovation and entrepreneurial skill development.

Apart from academics the department also encourages its students to engage in extra-curricular and co-curricular activities for enabling them to develop a holistic personality, ready to face challenges and sustain growth in a competitive world.
