Students Explore Wisdom and Leadership with Chhatra Sansad’s InternNation Leadership Tour 2024, Powered by PU, through Interactions with Leaders across Mumbai and Delhi

To attain exposure to real world knowledge and gain practicality beyond textbooks, PU’s students ventured to Delhi and Mumbai for interactions with prominent personalities as part of the InternNation Leadership Tour. This tour presented a unique learning experience for PU students and was organised in collaboration with Chhatra Sansad to offer them an enriching experience where they interacted with leaders, policy makers and prominent organisations for a chance to gain leadership skills and the knowledge of governance. Some of the notable personalities they met include, Smt Smriti Irani, Shri Arun Singhal, Vice Admiral A. N. Pramod, Aaditya Thackeray, Anand Narsimhan, Shri Shashi Tharoor, Gauranga Das Ji, and Kiran Bedi, among others.

   

Through the InternNation Leadership tour, students engaged in interactive sessions with some of the renowned leaders of India and got to know their real-life experiences of how to tackle situations with competence, and commitment for serving the nation while shaping the world. This first-hand experience of participating in sessions with the prominent leaders of India helped the students craft their visionary dreams while relating to their career path. During this tour, students got to hear motivating remarks from Pradeep Rai (Senior Advocate, Supreme Court) like “Prepare for the worst and work for the best”.

The University’s students also experienced immersive learning values by visiting key places of national significance like the Parliament of India, Bombay High Court, National Stock Exchange, and National Archives of India, among many other inspiring visits. Knowing about the importance of leadership and how it plays a crucial role in a student's pathway, PU together with Chhatra Sansad offered a refining opportunity to students that helped them shape their perspectives, and better align their career prospects. The InternNation Leadership Tour also involved perceptive sessions with prominent personalities like Smt Kiran Bedi (Former Lt Governor of Puducherry), Smt Smriti Irani (Former Minister of Women and Child Development and Textiles), Shri Anand Narasimhan (Managing Editor and Senior Anchor at CNN-News18) and so many more. Students also got an opportunity to interact with eminent personalities such as Shashi Tharoor, who shared some important opinions during his session. He was quoted saying, “I am a very passionate supporter of India's civilization of diversity and our tradition of embracing and involving people of all backgrounds, all religions, all communities, all races in the grand adventure of building up one nation.”

During this tour, students gained thoughtful insights from dignitaries such as Shri Aaditya Thackeray (Member of Maharashtra Assembly) where they learned about his perspectives and thoughts on politics and reform policies. During his interaction, sharing his thoughts on tours such as these, he was quoted saying, “Younger people like you get opportunities to travel and interact that will open up your minds.” Some of the other interesting and inspiring sessions included interactions with powerful women of today’s world where they gained insights on different disciplines - the interactions included sessions with Smt Ratna Pathak Shah and her views of gaining rich experience in performing arts, witnessing Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah’s Old-World charm and later gaining invaluable insights of the business world from the man himself Shri. Shashi Ruia, Chairman of the Essar Group

The student delegation gained some important advice from Smt Smriti Irani, who was quoted saying, “If you want to change things for people, LEAD. Lead by example, Lead for change”. The interaction at the prominent organisation UNICEF was an inspiring one. Abhishek Gupta (Chief Operating Officer, YuWaah at UNICEF) shared some valuable insights, “Social development is largely based on education and health which helps build good human capital which gets productive and economic development happens” and more from Smt Meghna Puri Ghai where she said “When your heart is in the right place, when you are trying to do the right thing somehow you will chase quality over quantity”.

The InternNation Leadership Tour proved to be a resounding success providing students with a unique opportunity to engage, interact, and gain valuable insights from renowned leaders into the world of politics and leadership. Tours like these strengthen the commitment of the university in nurturing students with a deeper understanding of the skills and qualities required to make a necessary contribution and lasting impact. It further solidifies the efforts of the university in fostering a community of engaged and thoughtful leaders, equipping them with skills, knowledge, and experiences that will help them tackle complex challenges and shape a better tomorrow.
