India’s Dance Icon Terence Lewis visits PU for a PUTalk session with the students.

For every student who has an idol they look up to, the PUTalks platform has been making them see their idols in real life leaving them filled with a profound wave of inspiration. This city-based University recently hosted one of the Nation’s most iconic dancers, and television personality, Terrence Lewis, for an insightful interaction and an igniting performance at its Vadodara campus.  PUTalks is a one-of-a-kind platform made to inspire the youth by coming face to face with prominent personalities who have excelled in their fields.

Terence Lewis is one of India’s biggest choreographers and television personalities who is a household name for judging super hit reality shows like Dance India Dance, India’s Best Dancer and Nach Baliye among others. Coming from a lower middle-class family to being the founder of one of the country’s biggest dance academies, the Terence Lewis Dance Academy, at a time when dance was not perceived as a career choice, makes Terence a true inspiration that the youth look upto.

Recently, he also sang and acted in the song “Shaidayee” produced by T-Series whose music video was screened during his presence at PU. Terence was also accompanied by Vandana Khandelwal, the lyricist of Shaidayee. During the event, students of PU recreated his journey to stardom with a thematic dance performance that touched his heart. "Nobody has done anything of this sort for me. It's like you all have made up your mind to make me cry today!" exclaimed Terrance, upon witnessing the students’ performance.

During his interaction with the students on the stage of PU Talks, Terence talked about his journey and motivated the students to take calculated risks in life by not fearing failures. Giving students an important life lesson that there is no alternative to hard work,  Terence quoted “It's okay to not succeed all the time. I have been rejected many times but you don't see my failures, you only see the success. It took 20 years for my overnight success!” Being a double degree holder, Terence also gave students some insights on how to juggle studies and passion together by keeping distractions at bay.

“It is so important to groom students not only for a bright career but also for a happy and content life. That was the very objective behind PU Talks. To bring in inspirational personalities from around the world to interact and motivate our students with their life journeys. My wish is that someday one of our students will create a positive impact in the world by learning from these legendary personalities and maybe be a guest on our platform of PU Talks, making it a full circle moment”, said Dr. Devanshu Patel, the President of PU on being asked about the thought behind PU Talks.

Over the years, a number of icons have been on the stage of PU talks including His excellency Lobsang Sangay - the President of Central Tibetian Administration, Padma Shri Dr. Prakash and Mandakini Amte, Justice C.K.
