As the healthcare delivery system continues to progress across multiple parameters, including the doctor–patient ratio, Gujarat’s Parul Medical Institute and Hospital has been actively contributing to the growing demand for quality medical resources.
From the current academic year, the institute has received permission for a total of 53 postgraduate seats across 16 departments. These include General Medicine, Paediatrics, Dermatology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Radiology, Anaesthesia, Pathology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, and Community Medicine.
These approvals will significantly contribute towards meeting the increasing demand for highly trained medical professionals in the field of medicine.
With this addition, the total number of postgraduate (MD/MS) seats available in Gujarat will rise to approximately 1,963. Speaking on the development, Dr. Geetika Madan Patel, Medical Director at Parul University, stated that Parul Institute of Medical Sciences & Research is the only college in Gujarat to commence postgraduate programmes in the current academic year.
She further added that the institute has also received one-year recognition for its undergraduate MBBS programme from the National Medical Commission. Considering the limited number of postgraduate seats in Gujarat, many MBBS graduates are compelled to pursue higher studies outside the state or country, and the institute plans to expand postgraduate capacity in the future.
The affiliated teaching hospital, Parul Sevashram Hospital, is among the few medical college hospitals in Gujarat equipped with full-fledged super-specialty departments. These include cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, nephrology, urology, neurology and neurosurgery, paediatric surgery, oncosurgery, along with several other specialty departments.
With its well-developed healthcare infrastructure, the institute provides medical students with extensive hands-on training under the guidance of experienced medical professionals.
Dean Dr. V. P. Hathila shared that the institute has equipped its facilities with the latest medical technologies across operation theatres, critical care units, and other departments. This enables students to stay updated with best practices followed nationally and internationally.
Emphasising the institution’s long-term vision, Parul University President Dr. Devanshu Patel expressed confidence that the advanced facilities and dedicated expert resources will ensure comprehensive training for postgraduate students joining their respective departments, while continuing to drive quality research and innovation in healthcare.
