About M.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology

The Faculty of Medicine's Department of Paramedical and Health Sciences offers a two year Post Graduate Degree program in Medical Laboratory Technology. The program is research based and it seeks to provide students with the much needed comprehensive understanding in line with the field. The laboratory technicians who are trained in this program develop an indepth exposure into the depths of this field and have maintained a position of great significance. This is post graduate course provides students with specialised training in the scientific methods of detecting, treating, curing and preventing human diseases and infection through laboratory tests. Such technicians maintain a position of great significance as they get to complement the efforts of the doctors in the medical field when it comes to the cure and treatment process of the patients. The is practical oriented and through the faculty's laboratories and research facilities, the students get to prepare solutions, collect samples, examine cells, analyze results and draw conclusions. The Faculty of Medicine is equipped with a 750 bedded multispecility teaching hospital which ensures the practical engagement of medical laboratory students all throughout their course.
