About Food Technology


The Faculty of Engineering offers a four year Bachelors Degree in Food Technology which seeks to equip the students with the fundamental understanding of the various forms of food processing and production processes with the food industries so as to ensure the continuous development of humanity. The scope of the food industry has been on a rapid growth and this has created a high demand for experts who are skilled and trained in the art of providing the much needed relief in this field along with the need to maintain the nutritional welfare of the society, food technology has been playing a prominent role in maintaining this balance. The curriculum of this program has been strategically designed so as to provide the students with the most current and contemporary understanding of the mechanism and methodologies to do with the food industry. The recent advancements in technology have opened up new avenues of scientifc innovations through the genetically modified food items. This has made it essential to have personnel who are equipped with the essential knowledge when it comes to handling the needs of the industry. As way of providing the students with the most enriching practical training, the field allows students to develop the career equipped skills such as food inspection, quality assurance, product development and food regulation.

Candidate shall have Passed 12th Examination with Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology subjects and in these subjects along with theory or theory + practical candidate should have obtained at least 45% in case of general category and 40% in case of reserved category from recognized board.
