About B.Sc (Honors) Environmental Science

With the ever-growing environmental concerns and the need to guide against climate change and ensure sustainable development, environmental education has taken a role of great significance within the academic sphere. The Faculty of Applied Sciences offers a 4-year honors program in Environmental Science, which seeks to impart within the students an in-depth understanding into the mechanism and elements of the environment. The main objective of the faculty is to produce effective human resources who have the ability and the capacity to effectively contribute to the global environmental landscape. The faculty is equipped with state of the art facilities for research and development which allow the students to remain practically engaged while at the same innovate various solutions through experimentation. The students get to learn under the expert guidance of faculties and teaching resources from renowned backgrounds who shape their understanding regarding contemporary practices in the field. This study exposes students to various environmental phenomena such as overpopulation, water deforestation, ecosystems, endangered species, climate change amongst others. The program goes on to focus on the development of the students’ career competencies, thus goes on to conduct field work as a way of enhancing their skillsets in surveying, assessing and mapping the various environmental adversities.
