About B.Des in Digital Fabrication & Parametric Design


The growing scope of technology and its influence upon the field of design and architecture, has opened up a new paradigm of study which seeks to equip the designers and architects with effective digital skillsets. To address this urgent need for expertise the Faculty of Architecture offers a four year Bachelors of Design program which seeks to provide the students with an indepth understanding of the various avenues of this field. The curriculum of this program comprises of modules which have been strategically designed to provide students with a new digital paradigm in design and architecture, making them able to gain practical experience on future trends of computational architecture, generative design, algorithmic analysis, design optimization, digital fabrication and smart kinetic systems. The Faculty of Architecture provides a learning experience which is centred on fulfilling the career needs of the students and the specific requirements of the industry. As a way of providing the students with the most enriching research experience, the Faculty is equipped with state of the art facilities for research and development which go on to allow students to explore new avenues, and innovate new techniques in the field of architecture.

National Symposium

Every year during AAKAR (the Annual Festival of our Institute), we organize a National Symposium incorporating Seminars and Lecture sessions of eminent subject experts, research scholars, academicians and practicing architects. Each year the symposium is based on a specific theme. Until today, we have conducted symposium on two themes, namely: 'Inheritance Imprints' and 'Ecologia Footprints' in 2013 & 2014 respectively. Every paper presented or lecture delivered in the symposium is compiled in the form of a Research Paper and published as a Research Journal: AURA (Architectural Unitary Research Articles).

Expert session by internationally known Ar.Christopher Charles Benninger

On account of the completion of course duration of the first batch at Parul Institute of Architecture & Research (PIAR), the institute had organized an expert session by internationally known Ar. Christopher Charles Benninger for its students who were on the verge of stepping out as professionals of the Architecture fraternity. The session was organised to enlighten the students & guide them towards the correct path. It was further made more fruitful with Book distribution of 'Letters to the Young Architect' authored by Christopher himself. All graduating students were fortunate enough to receive the autographed copy of the same book along with their own Thesis report. The professional Architects of the city, delegates of IIA (Indian institute of Architects) & IIID (Indian institute of interior designers) and members of academia from neighboring institute of Architecture got an opportunity to attend the lecture of Benninger sir on 'Architect in the City'.

Architecture, Fine Arts & Design Expo 2019

As a concluding mark to their academic journey, the budding architects, designers and fine arts students of Parul University, made an outstanding display of their artistic and innovative creativity during the recently held academic exhibition. With their cutting-edge thought process and their understanding of five years of education, the students of the faculties of architecture, fine arts and design showcased their final year projects. These were the pure results of hard work, commitment and dedication on the part of the student and their faculties. The students explored a diversified blend of projects, with themes covering the various aspects of political, environmental, psychological, cultural and the social elements. Exhibiting the essence of creativity and sensitivity towards public realm, the students had put up a display of some of the most innovative projects, with the highest form of social utility.

International Art & Sculpture Fest

A series of Workshops are conducted for the students with an intention to develop various skill sets required to evolve as an architect and to understand the principles of working with different materials such as clay, siforex, wood, bamboo, etc. and media such as pencil, colours, paints, charcoal, etc. The students are also given an exposure of various brainstorming sessions conducted by various External experts from the industry and profession, by virtue of which they would eventually evolve as good and sensible designers.

AAKAR

AAKAR is the Annual Festival of PIAR. Besides showcasing the academic & co-curricular activities of our students, AAKAR also provides opportunities to enhance the knowledge skill base of our students and teachers. In addition, it gives a chance to the students and teachers to celebrate the crossing over a milestone of their academic journey, through cultural programs & musical Informals. Every year AAKAR is based on a specific theme, based on which, all the sets on the campus and decorations are erected. The Symposium combines speeches by the Invitees on topics related to the theme of the Festival.
