India’s electric vehicle (EV) sector is growing at a rate that has left workforce readiness behind. In today’s time, when EVs’ demand is also increasing, our country needs technical staff who can assemble, test, maintain, and service EVs. The supply has not matched the demand from OEMs, component manufacturers, and service networks.
This is where the Green Job Initiative comes in. Parul University, through its Sakshamthad Foundation, has received formal approval to run two free EV training programs in Vadodara under this national initiative. The training centre at Parul University’s campus was inspected and approved on 31 January 2026, and the Work Allocation Mandate was issued on 24 February 2026 by Hitchha Solutions Pvt. Ltd., the program’s implementing partner.
The total project covers 150 candidates, ₹21.83 lakhs in government-backed funding, and two distinct certification tracks -both aligned to the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and designed to make participants job-ready in India’s rapidly expanding electric mobility sector.
What Are the Two EV Training Programs?
1. Certificate Course in Two & Three-Electric Wheeler Service Technician
The course gives training to the candidates to service, identify, and repair the EVs. The program’s curriculum covers EV architecture, battery systems, motor and controller diagnostics, wiring harnesses, charging infrastructure, and safety rules. It is a non-residential programme delivered over 540 hours of classroom, lab, and practical instruction. 75 seats are available, and the program is fully funded at ₹15,876 per candidate (₹11,90,700 total) -with zero fees charged to trainees.
2. Electric Vehicle Assembly Technician (EVAT)
EVAT is an area of specialization in battery pack assembly, motor controller integration, wiring harnessing, and quality testing and inspection, including compliance with safety standards. The candidates are trained for these roles. This is a non-residential program of 450 hours with 75 seats. It is fully funded at ₹13,230 per candidate (₹9,92,250 total). Like the first program, there are absolutely no fees charged to participants.
Here, both the programs are designed in a way that they align with the NSQF (National Skills Qualification Framework). Training is planned in a way that it is a combination of classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and on-the-job training. After successful completion, students receive a joint certificate from Kaushalya Skill University (a reputed and recognised school of training by employers from the EV sector)
Who Can Apply?
For interested candidates the given eligibility criteria should be met. Based on the proposal documentation, the following profiles are ideal fits:
- Last year Diploma students in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, or Mechatronics engineering.
- Final-year B.Tech students in the same disciplines.
- Candidates with foundational technical knowledge -any learning gaps are bridged by expert trainers through structured modules, hands-on practice, and guided assessments.
Proper documentation -age, education, and eligibility proof -must be verified and maintained. Only eligible candidates fulfilling prescribed qualification criteria will be enrolled. This is a government-funded program with strict compliance requirements: no fees of any kind (registration, training, assessment, certification, or any other charges) are collected from trainees.
| Important: This training is completely free. No fees of any kind -registration, training, assessment, certification, or any other charges -are collected from students. Any instance of fee collection is treated as a serious violation under the program’s mandatory compliance guidelines. |
EV Training Matters: The Green Job Opportunity
The Skill Council for Green Jobs (SCGJ), established in 2015 under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, estimates that India’s shift to clean energy could create 30–35 million additional jobs across green sectors by 2047. Electric vehicles, charging infrastructure, and battery technology are among the highest-potential segments for job creation.
The Directorate General of Training (DGT), under MSDE, has already partnered with Shell India to roll out green skills and EV training across ITIs and NSTIs in five states, including Gujarat. The Green Job Initiative that Parul University is part of operates within this national ecosystem -delivering NSQF-aligned, industry-relevant training that prepares candidates for immediate employment in EV manufacturing, assembly, service, and maintenance.
For candidates in Vadodara and surrounding areas, this program removes two of the biggest barriers to EV skills training: cost (zero fees) and access (training delivered on campus at Parul University with qualified trainers and lab infrastructure).
Sakshamthad Foundation: Parul University's Socially Responsive Arm
Sakshamthad Foundation is a social-responsive initiative of Parul University, incorporated in July 2023 as a Section 8 non-profit company. The foundation’s mission extends across education, women’s empowerment, elderly care, healthcare, environmental sustainability, and skill-based training. It operates from the Parul University campus in Limda, Waghodia, Vadodara.
The foundation’s skill-training track record includes vocational training in beauty and wellness (200+ women trained, 30 self-run parlors established, each earning approximately ₹15,000/month), the GARIMA Women Livelihood Centre (75+ women trained, 11 startups facilitated, ₹25 lakh+ in collective earnings), and community education initiatives like Apni Pathshala, street schools, and scholarship programs.
The Green Job Initiative EV training programs represent a new dimension of Sakshamthad’s work -moving from traditional vocational skills into the high-growth green technology sector. The foundation’s registration at the Parul University address and its access to the university’s engineering labs, classrooms, and qualified faculty make it a natural partner for delivering technical training at this scale.
How the Program Works: Structure, Compliance, and Certification
Training Delivery
These two programs are non-residential and operated at the Parul University campus, Vadodara. Per day five hours of training are given, and it doesn’t exceed that. A detailed curriculum is shared with start and end dates mentioned before commencement. CCTV surveillance is there, that records the sessions and activities too.
Attendance and Progress Tracking
Attendance of the trainee is measured through the AEBAS (Aadhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System); this ensures transparency. Funds are released in three rounds based on the verifiable milestones – 30% on batch start and portal verification, 30% on receiving 70% AEBAS attendance, and 50% on course completion. While the 40% is given on certification of the passed candidates.
Assessment and Certification
Assessment is conducted by qualified, certified assessors. Candidates who pass receive certification from Kaushalya Skill University. Amounts attributable to failed or dropped candidates are adjusted in final payables -ensuring accountability at every stage. All trainers and assessors must be duly qualified and certified as per course norms, with credentials verified prior to deployment.
Placement Support
The program includes placement facilitation and post-training support. Candidates receive industry connections, interview preparation, and access to EV manufacturing and service partners. The goal is a direct transition from training to employment -not just a certificate, but a job.
Deadline
Candidates registering this year should know that all the training, including classroom sessions, practical training, internal assessments, and final formalities, should be completed by 12 June 2026.
What Candidates Learn: Skills That EV Employers Need
The curriculum is designed to make candidates immediately employable in EV manufacturing, assembly, service, and maintenance roles. Key skill areas include:
- EV architecture -understanding the core systems and subsystems of electric vehicles.
- Battery pack assembly -handling, assembling, and testing lithium-ion and other EV battery systems.
