From setting trends in ethnic wear to redefining western collections, PU’s design students continue to set benchmarks and remain a prominent topic of discussion in the city. Once again, they have brought new accolades to the institute, this time on an international platform.

Recently, a group of budding design students from PU’s Institute of Design participated in the International Fashion Show organised by Montrose Runway Fashion Week & Khadi Council of India, held in the scenic city of Pokhara, Nepal.

The students showcased their creative brilliance through their collection titled “Vintage to Present”, inspired by evolving fashion trends over the years. Their innovative expressions earned them prestigious awards including ‘Best Design Institute of the Year’ and ‘Best Design Concept of the Year’.

The talented students who represented the institute were Jui Lakhani, Akansha Goswami, Sanskriti Singh, and Ankit Kumar. These young designers presented their garments before esteemed guests possessing decades of experience in the fashion industry.

As a grand international platform, the event hosted designers from across the globe who showcased over 300 garments, reflecting diversity in cultures and creative perspectives. The platform enabled students to express their originality while representing the richness of India’s heritage.

A team of dedicated professors accompanied the students, providing mentorship and guidance throughout the development of their collections. The students are already familiar with major fashion platforms such as Mumbai Fashion Week and other renowned ramp shows.

PU Institute of Design Students and Faculty Achievements

Over the years, the faculty has also earned accolades such as the Best Khadi Concept Award in 2019, among several others. The Institute has recently enhanced its design infrastructure to provide students with an advanced platform to strengthen their design knowledge and practical understanding.

Through these facilities, students have actively participated in leading competitions and achieved notable success. Renowned celebrity designers such as Ruma Devi and Anna Singh frequently visit the campus to interact with students and share their industry expertise.

Sharing his experience, student Ankit Kumar expressed that the opportunity was an eye-opener for him and his peers. Interacting with prestigious designers from the industry provided valuable insights and motivation, inspiring them to strive towards becoming better versions of themselves.
