Parul University Hosts Smart India Hackathon 2025 – A National Innovation Showcase
The Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2025 – Hardware Grand Finale, hosted at Parul University, emerged as a powerful national platform that highlighted innovation, creativity, and technological excellence. Selected as the host institution for this prestigious event, Parul provided the stage for a five-day-long innovation journey where young minds came together to develop solutions aimed at strengthening India’s growing innovation ecosystem.
A National Stage for Innovation
The SIH 2025 Hardware Grand Finale, hosted by Parul University, was one of the year’s most anticipated innovation events. This event witnessed the participation of 120 student innovators, supported by 40 dedicated mentors and evaluated by 20 expert judges, all coming together to build practical, impactful solutions to some of India’s most pressing real-world challenges.
Students from nine Indian states, including West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Odisha, Telangana, and Maharashtra, brought creativity, and technical passion to the event. The multi-state presence transformed Parul University into a true national innovation arena where cultures and ideas converged.
A 24×7 Hub of Problem-Solving Energy
For 5 days and nights, the campus operated with relentless enthusiasm as participants worked continuously to turn their concepts into working prototypes. Teams engaged in rapid brainstorming, hardware assembly, coding, testing and refining their solutions, thereby demonstrating the spirit of dedication that SIH is known for.
The Medical Library Reading Hall, the event’s venue was filled with creativity and innovation. Students were seen collaborating with mentors, adjusting circuit boards, running diagnostics and presenting interim stages of their solutions to jury members for feedback. The 24×7 prototyping culture created an immersive environment where learning happened every minute, inspiring innovation at its purest.
Strong Collaboration with National Innovation Bodies
The event was organised in collaboration with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education, reinforcing the national mission of promoting Make in India and encouraging innovation at the grassroots level.
In addition, GUJCOST (Gujarat Council on Science & Technology), the Department of Science & Technology, Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), the Ministry of Mines, and AICTE–MIC (Student Innovation) played an important role in the event. These organisations provided real-time, industry-relevant problem statements, ensuring that students worked on challenges with real-world importance.
Throughout the hackathon, officials, professionals, and institutional representatives actively interacted with students, offering continuous inputs, technical guidance, feedback, and assessment. This close engagement helped students refine their ideas, gain industry insights, and understand how their innovations could be applied beyond the competition.
Impactful Problem Statements with Real-World Relevance
The problem statements assigned at SIH 2025 spanned crucial sectors, giving students the opportunity to develop innovations with real societal impact. From clean and green technologies to medtech advancements and mining applications, each challenge encouraged students to think beyond theoretical frameworks and build workable prototypes that could be scaled in the real world.
Encouraging a Culture of Innovation Through Rewards and Recognition
The participating teams competed not just for national recognition but also for prize money of ₹1,50,000, awarded for the most impactful and technically sound prototypes. This prize acted as a strong motivation for young innovators to push boundaries and refine their solutions to perfection.
But beyond the prize, the real reward was the exposure to industry professionals, ministry representatives and academic leaders, an invaluable step in the journey of becoming future-ready innovators.
A Message of Vision and Purpose
Speaking about the significance of hosting SIH 2025, Dr. Devanshu Patel, President of Parul University, emphasized the deeper purpose behind innovation-driven events. He stated, “Innovating for the sake of society is what innovation really means. Seeing students take their concepts and turn them into real solutions to some of the biggest issues facing India reaffirms our commitment to nurturing a new generation of thinkers, creators, and leaders.”
