Aim of the Policy
This policy aims to inform and regulate students about Training and Placement Policy, ensuring professional conduct and providing guidelines for accepting job offers. It also lays down rules for joining companies, both in terms of penalties and benefits, to maintain the university’s reputation.
Overall, this policy is aimed at creating a transparent and structured approach, ensuring that students have a clear understanding of the guidelines and procedures governing the placement processes. It also upholds the university’s reputation by promoting professional conduct and ethical behaviour among students.
Applicability of the Policy
The Placement policy is applicable to all the 2024 passing out students of the University (Domestic & International) who registers to avails the facilities given by T & P Cell for the 2024 placement season . The primary objective of the policy is to ensure that students maintain expected conduct throughout the placement season and to specify deterrents for unwarranted communication with companies or other players/mediums that may directly or indirectly affect the University’s image. Moreover, the policy lays down provisions, procedures, and process for accepting job/internship offers, as well as guidelines for students’ joining and related rules in terms of penalization and benefits.
Check List - For Campus Drive
- Five passport-sized photos with a white background and discernible ears.
- Photocopy of all required certificates, as well as two copies of each
- An original and a photocopy of a government-issued picture ID and University ID Card
- A copy of any project reports, training materials, certifications, and related reports that the student completed while enrolled in a professional academic programme.
- Executive folder to hold all documents
- Notepad, Pen & Pencil
All of the documents mentioned above must be carried by the student at all times in an online format (through email, Google Drive, etc.) in case of emergency calls.
The most recent version of the student’s CV, a link to their portfolio, etc., must
occasionally be published to the placement portal
Offer Types
As a student, it is important to understand the significance of the different types of job offers and opportunities availed during the placement season. These opportunities include job offers, pre-placement offers, independent offers, on-job training, internship offers, etc which are usually offered by the various organisations.
A Job Offer is the final stage of recruitment and selection, Once a candidate is selected, s/he will be issued an offer letter, which describes the designation, job location, role, responsibilities, remuneration, benefits, and a few terms related to the company policies.
A Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) is a job offer given to a student by a company before the student has completed their studies and before the formal campus recruitment process begins. PPOs are usually given to students who have completed their internships or summer training with the company and have performed well. PPOs are a way for companies to secure top talent early and for students to secure a job offer before their final year of studies.
On – The – Job Training (OJT) is a practical approach to acquiring new competencies and skills needed for a job in a real, or close to real, working environment. It is often used to learn how to use particular tools or equipment in a live-work practice, simulated, or training environment. OJT enhances the significance of availing PPOs before the commencement of the placement season.
Understanding these types of offers and opportunities and complying with university guidelines can greatly benefit your career prospects and ensure a successful transition from academia to the professional world.
Dress Code The dress code not only ensures a professional appearance but also represents the University and reflects the importance towards the commitment in the placement process(s). It is mandatory for all the students to comply the below mentioned standards on attire throughout the placement season.
Male: White Shirt, Black trousers, Black belt, white socks & Black polished shoes or College Uniform (Blazer preferred but not compulsory apart from MBA Students).
Female: White Shirt, Black trousers, Black belt, white socks & Black polished Shoes or All students must strictly comply to the formal dress code or College Uniform (Blazer preferred but not compulsory apart from MBA Students).
SPC (Student Placement Coordinator): Dress Code as mentioned above with blazer and badge is mandatory. Badge will be provided by university – Cell.
Types of Campus Drives
The recruitment process for a company is a comprehensive journey, starting from student registration and ending with final selection. The process involves various stages such as CV shortlisting, online tests, interviews, and group discussions. The different types of recruitment processes that can be conducted are:
On-Campus Placement Drive: This process takes place within the university premises, but some rounds may be held outside the campus.
Off-Campus Placement Drive: This process is facilitated by the university, but the entire selection process is held outside the campus.
Joint/PooI Campus Placement Drive: This process is organized in the university, and students from other institutions are invited to participate, subject to meeting company-specific eligibility criteria.
Off-Joint Campus Placement Drive: This process is facilitated by the university but organized in another institution where students of the university are also invited to participate.
Job Fair: This is a fair organized in the university where placement process for multiple companies (multiple courses) takes place at the same time. Students from other universities will also participate.
Internship/ Training Drive: This is a selection process that leads to an internship offer for students, which may or may not convert into a placement offer. Depending on the program’s nature and the recruiter’s requirements, internships can vary in duration from 4-6 weeks to one year.
Live Projects: Live projects are short-term hiring processes by recruiters to help students gain hands-on experience in industrial activities with the objective of acquiring learning or getting certified by industry experts. The duration of live projects can be up to three months, and the job location can be inside or outside the university campus. Live projects may or may not be stipend-based, and they may or may not lead to a pre-placement offer. Duty leaves may be awarded to trainees during their engagement in live projects.
Placement Process
All students, who are eligible to participate in the placement session and wish to avail assistance of the T & P Cell, are required to register themselves mandatorily. However, in case a student opts not to register at the beginning of the session, s/he shall not normally be allowed to participate in the on-campus placement drives.
The candidates shall provide the resume in the format as prescribed by T & P Cell or the company. Inability to provide required information in the prescribed format within the notified schedule may lead to non- registration of the student for campus placement assistance.
T & P Cell shall ensure that the information provided by the students is not ambiguous/ wrong/ misleading/ fraudulent. If any student is found to be involved in such practices, the student may be debarred from the placement process and may also invite disciplinary action against the student.
Students should satisfy the requirements in terms of CGPA, background, technical requirements etc. specified by the company according to thejob description. T & P Cell shall start inviting companies for Placement drives from the beginning of the placement session.
Interested companies shall express their interest and provide details of profile of the jobs being offered, remuneration packages and eligibility requirements for the students The Company shall be offered dates/ slots for carrying out placement process comprising of, but not limited to, Pre-Placement Talk/ Written Test/ Online Test/ Group Discussion/ Personal Interview.
All information/ resumes of the interested students shall be provided to the companies for short listing.
On receipt of the results from the Company, T & P Cell shall announce it to the students Students interested in participating in the company will be required to register for the same in the stipulated time period. This registration is in addition to the student registration for the placement at T & P Cell and will have to be done for each visiting company.
T & P Cell shall notify the list of eligible students for the respective placement drive which
shall also be shared with the company for further process.
The company can decide the selection process as per their requirement. Infrastructure and assistance will be provided by T & P Cell to the company in their selection process.
List of shortlisted students shall be provided by the company to the T & P Cell for further process of the placement by them.
Final selection results by the company, duly signed by their authorised representative, shall be provided to T & P Cell only after due process of selection has been completed.
No on-the-spot offers shall be made directly to the students.
Confidentiality of the selection or placement process shall be maintained by the company. If a student receives multiple offers, s/he will choose one offer and the decision of the student shall be communicated by the T & P Cell to the company within 48 hours.
Companies will be required to prepare a waiting list of the students (which shall be kept confidential), in case a selected student opts not to accept the offer. The next student, in the merit order, shall be offered the job.
Once finalised, the company shall send the offer letters to the T & P Cell who shall then forward the same to the selected students for confirming acceptance of the offer. There shall be no direct communication between the student and the company, except during the Placement process.
The University follows ‘One Student One Job’ policy and the companies should honour their commitments in this regard relating to packages, profile, location etc. as given in the Job Descriptions.
On acceptance of the job offer by a company, through an official communication to the T & P Cell by the company and the student, the student shall be out of the placement process and the responsibility of the Institution ends. Only if the job offer is revoked or put on hold by the company, the concerned student will be allowed to participate in further placements.
Rules & Regulations
- The student qualifies for the placement process only if s/he have appeared for the Impact training with minimum 75%.
- Eligible students seeking placement assistance must fill the prescribed Placement Registration form. Non-submission of the registration form within the due date will be deemed as opting-out of campus placement process. Additionally, student can also opt out of the placement process by signing a declaration.
- If any student is found to be violating the professional code of Conduct, s/ he is liable to be debarred from campus placement process and may face further disciplinary action as per the University rules.
- It is the responsibility of students to follow all communication and deadlines of the placement process(s) as communicated by the T & P Cell. For this purpose, the student must regularly check the emails, messages, or notices shared with them to ensure that they don’t miss out any communication and comply with the instructions as required within the given timelines. Non-adherence to the timelines may lead to denial of the subsequent process outcomes such as interviews, group discussions, etc.
- On receiving the first job offer, the student will be automatically considered as placed, and will be removed from the list of students awaiting placement.
- All job offers will be made via the T & P Cell. No direct offers to students, who have opted for placement assistance, will be permitted.
- Student is expected to inform about the acceptance of the offer (whether an offer is received from one company or multiple companies) within 48 hours Of the announcement Of the results. Student can accept only one Offer in case Of multiple offers received.
- Students are allowed to join the company as per the requirement/need of the organisation.
- An official complaint against any students, reported for any kind of unacceptable behaviour such as unprofessional communication, physical or psychological harassment, ragging and malpractice, cheating in exams or any unethical external communication will be taken seriously by the T & P Cell and disciplinary committee may recommend to reject the candidature of the student from all the placement activities.
- Students are liable to be debarred from the placement process if s/ he is found violating academic, personal and professional integrity or any complaint reported against him or her by dean / faculty / administration / hostel warden is found true.
- All post job-offer communication between student and company should be channelized through the T & P Cell.
- Direct communications with the company officials are not allowed.
- It is mandatory for the students to register in the company to participate in the placement process of the company.
- Attendance in PPT (Pre – Placement talk) is mandatory after registration, to be eligible for further placement process.
- Students have the option to discontinue their participation after pre placement talk, only and only if they find the terms and conditions are not matching with the one submitted by the company over email for the purpose of interested student’s registration.
- Students proceeding after the — Placement talk) for the next step in the selection process of the company cannot quit in between. If a student quits in between, then s/he will be debarred and will not be allowed to appear in any other further placement event.
- Any kind of misbehaviour / complaints reported by the company officials will be taken seriously and if proven, the student will be debarred from future campus placements.
- If any company has specified certain prerequisites/ selection criteria such as their academic scores, gender, experience, domain knowledge, languages, location etc., only those students meeting such criteria will be allowed to sit for the process. The T & P Cell can verify the veracity of the information provided by the Students with the Exam office.
- As the company decides the selection criteria as per its HR policies, the T & P Cell will have no role in deciding the selection process and the students will have to abide by the Company’s selection rules/ criteria. T & P Cell will not be liable to answer any such short listing parameters determined by the company.
- Students who are not participating in placement process for five consecutive recruitment drives will be considered out of placement process.
- Joining date will be completely at the sole discretion of those respective companies. T & P Cell is not liable for any delay in issuing the appointment letter or revoking the offer. Also, T & P Cell will not revise the examination date/ conclusion of the session etc., to suit early joining.
- Grievances with any issue regarding the placement process should be referred to the T & P
Cell by means of formal communication only. - A Student whether placed through the placement process Of the University or otherwise has to submit a signed copy of his / her offer letter within 48 hours. Once received.
- Students who have already received an offer letter from one company can sit for another Company offering double the package(E.g. A student placed with 6 LPA can apply for another company offering 12 LPA and above only ).However, the placement drive for any particular company can be made open for all placed students by the respective T&P Cell as
- The T&P Cell has the right to disqualify any student based on their academic track record and involvement level in training and placement-related activities.
- The university and T&P Cell are not responsible for any undue circumstances arising due to changes in the company’s performance at the time of joining.
- Students in their pre-final/final year can apply to be Student Placement Coordinators, and the selection process will involve written tests, group discussions, and personal interviews.
- Students who are finally appointed as Student Placement Coordinators will interact and coordinate with company HR during campus drives and receive a Certificate of Appreciation at the end of their tenure.
- Students must attend expert sessions, industrial visits, and other placement-related activities conducted by the university else s/he will not be eligible for further T&P activities.
- Placed students have certain restrictions on participating in placement drives, depending on the package they receive, and the number of students placed in their respective branches.
- If any company offers a package of IO LPA or higher, all candidates, whether placed or unplaced, will be allowed to participate in the campus recruitment drive.
- It is mandatory for all eligible students to participate in on-campus recruitment drives on Day O and Day 1.
- Students must sign a “No Dues” agreement for placement and deposit their offer letter or appointment letter when collecting their final mark sheet.
- Students must submit their internship certificate with company details for verification within 30 days Of completing the internship.
- Placed & SeIf-PIaced students(after submitting the copy of offer letter) will receive a gift and appreciation certificate from the university by contacting the T&P Cell.
- The student who is willing to participate in placement activities need to submit the signed document of the placement policy to the T&P Cell.
