About the program

In today’s times, when globalization has led to a fast paced urbanization of different areas, it is becoming more and more difficult to sustain cities through provision of infrastructure, amenities, facilities, community spaces, etc. Even rural areas require appropriate strategies for paving way for further development. In this light, there is an urgent need of a fleet of specialized planners who can perceive the big picture and suggest smart interventions which can manage and resolve the issues in a sensible manner.

The primary purpose of the program offered by Parul University is the education of students so that they could contribute their knowledge, skills and understanding to addressing the major urban and regional issues of the day and consequently improving the quality of life in different human habitats. The combination of theory sessions and studio exercises in the curriculum enables the translation of knowledge into practical solutions.

The courses of the program acquaint students with the fundamentals of planning theory and techniques, their applicability in the Indian context and the current development scenario of our country. In addition, emphasis is given to developing skills required for formulating a project, data collection and review, dealing with offices, local people, bureaucrats, compilation of data and its research analysis – both quantitative and qualitative, preparing reports, delivering presentations to various kinds of audiences, understanding legislations, drafting legal documents, logical decision making based on the research study, issues of implementation of proposed plans, ground realities, etc
